Demos stamping together!

Last week I got to attend another demonstrator's team meeting and stamp with them! For me this is one of the things I love about the Stampin' Up! family, that we can support and encourage one another, and that getting together with like-minded crafters is so much fun!

Some of my team are spread across Tasmania and one on the mainland that I hold an online team meeting (one happening tonight!), although I am trying to get together face-to-face with some of them so we can share what we love and stamp together.

At the get together last week Sharon shared this make and take using the Climbing Orchid bundle (#145334), one that I don't currently own, and showed the versatility of it with various colour combinations. It was lovely to make and I liked the look of the Garden Trellis Textured Impressions embossing folder (#143751) behind it, that is now on my wishlist or next order! At $13 these embossing folders are a great investment to quickly and easily add some texture and detail to card panels or elements on your card or projects.

By hosting a qualifying workshop, class or event during September and October, you can earn the exclusive host-only Merry Patterns stamp set and this is what Louise shared with us as a make and take. I really liked the design and elements on this card.

Also, it was a great reminder of how an error or omission (in this case Lou forgot to bring the Year of Cheer Specialty DSP #144640) can lead to a new design element.... she made her own DSP at the event, stamping a leaf pattern and embossing it several times on a piece of white cardstock --- can you see that piece on the card below?

The copper embossed deer on a piece of Wood Textures DSP (#144177) was lovely and coordinated well with the other copper elements. Again a textured embossing folder was used to add to the overall design, one I do have!

If you want to order any of the items used in the cards above, click on the various items listed below, or go to my Online Store which is open 24/7 to get your ongoing craft supplies. Thanks ladies for a fun and informative night, a night I am starting to look forward to each month as part of my 'time out and personal care', as well as sharing and creating with like-minded friends and demos.

Father's Day card

Well today I had my first day at home alone in months and it was so nice, even though I spent the morning doing housework and necessary phone calls, I did manage to get some time in my craft room in the afternoon.

As Father's Day is coming this Sunday, 3 September, here in Australia and I am actually going to be up in Smithton for the weekend I thought I should get my act together and make a card and then I can hand deliver my dad his card this year.

My card base is Early Espresso cardstock and I used a panel of Sahara Sand for the main piece. On to this I stamped with Early Espresso, using the stamping off technique to add depth to the forest of trees, the pine tree stamp from the Lovely As A Tree set.

I then used a circle mask and sponged some Sahara Sand ink to create a moon and sponged some Sahara Sand around the trees. I then stamped with Early Espresso part of the bird stamp from the High Tide stamp set.

I white embossed my Happy Father's Day greeting from the Teeny Tiny Sentiments stamp set and then after adhering on my front panel I tied it off with some Early Espresso Baker's Twine.

I carried over my theme to the inside of my card and stamped off a few more tree tops and added some more birds in Early Espresso ink.

I was quite pleased how this card turned out, although a small greeting is a little hard to get a clear embossed image, but you can still read what the sentiment is.

This basic card design was quite quick to put together and I think I can see myself doing this again with some different colours like Garden Green or even Basic Black, with different sentiments... what do you think?

If you would like to purchase any of the items that I have used to recreate your own Father's Day or other greeting card then click on the items below. They are linked directly to my online store.

When ordering on line with me please remember to use the Hostess Code for August...

All those who use the code and enter their contact details will receive a thank you card and gift from me in early-mid September.
